Annual Events
1. New Year Prayers
Prayers are held every year at our Petaling Jaya (PJ) center for a successful and bountiful New Year for everyone in the PTVM family.
2. Thirumurai, Sangeetham, Mridangam and Violin Classes
Every year in January, classes are launched. These are paid classes with a defined syllabus and certified teachers. Registration for new students begins, and classes run throughout the year.
3. Thai Pongal Special Prayers
Every year on the first day of the Tamil month of Thai, traditional sweet rice is cooked in a new clay pot over a wooden fire, followed by special prayers and dinner.
4. Maha Shivaratri
Maha Shivaratri is a grand and well-attended event. Special homa and abhishegam are conducted throughout the night. Members who have taken Siva Deeksha perform Siva Pooja. Samaya and Siva Deeksha are also offered.
5. Monthly Sivarathri Pooja
Observed every month with homa, abhishegam, and pooja. Thirumurai recitals and speeches are also conducted. These poojas are sponsored by devotees and well-wishers.
6. Annual Karaikkal Ammaiyaar Guru Pooja
This annual event is conducted jointly by PTVM and devotees at the residence of Thiru & Thirumathi Retnam Bhuveneswary. It commemorates the devotion and songs of Karaikkal Ammaiyaar and promotes Saivite practices. The event includes pooja, speeches, Thirumurai singing, and prasatham distribution.
7. Hindu New Year Special Pooja
A special prayer is conducted annually to welcome the Tamil New Year (Chithirai). Teachers, students, and members actively participate in this ceremony.
8. Thirunavukkarasar Guru Pooja
This event begins with noon prayers followed by an evening program including pooja, Thirumurai concert, speeches, and dinner. In 2026, it marks the 38th year of celebration organized by PTVM founder Thiru Athimoolam and family.
9. Mangayarkarasiyar Guru Pooja
Conducted under the guidance of Thirumathi Buvaneswary Retnam for Desaria Thevaram class students. Sponsored by Thirumathi Thavamany and family. The year 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of this celebration.
10. Thirugnanasambandar Guru Pooja
An annual event held at the PTVM center to honor the contributions and songs of Thirugnanasambandar. The program includes pooja, speeches, Thirumurai singing, and prasatham distribution. In 2026, it marks the 13th year of celebration, sponsored by PTVM Vice President Thiru Paramsivam and family.
